Mercenary Cloud Strife and his allies have prevented an apocalyptic attack from the psychotic Sephiroth, but human civilization remains in tatters. But somewhere in the lifestream—the collective spiritual energy of the world and all who have died on its surface—lurks the remnants of Sephiroth's vengeful spirit, left to stew in its hatred toward Cloud and the rest of the human race. Final Fantasy VII: On the Way to a Smile is a series of short stories taking place between the events of Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. The light novel was published in English by Yen Press under the Yen On imprint on October 30, 2018. It was also released in Spanish by Planeta Cómic on April 9, 2019.
